The ilovekutchi shop is born from the attempt to be happy, to live each day with a smile and to offer small doses of handmade love... It’s a small little corner with scent to ‘sweets’, warm colors, pink chicks and softies that come alive at night, where kids and adults will find lots of cute stuff made with love!! It is also my studio where I have the opportunity to expand my imagination and create all the ilovekutchi brand items. I am inspired by dots, stripes and squares, by the smell of Milan Nata rubber and crayons, by butter cookies and the laugh of children.
How all started:
I've grown seeing my grandmother sew in a big inbuilt iron sewing machine and it always fascinated me the patience with wich she transformed some meters of fabric in a beautiful skirt or dress!!! I remember the first time I went into a haberdashery with my grandmother... I had around 9 years old and I can still scent the fabrics!! There was a big jar full of buttons, of diferent sizes, colors and shapes, and my instictive reaction was to put my hand inside to feel them!! Still love to do that... A drawing teacher gave me my first graphic diary at the age of 14 and told me to never be afraid to draw or register the things I saw and liked! Between skylines, buildings, feet and polaroids, there were always some funny character, sewing pattern or a sample of fabric...
Only in 2007, with 24 years old, I decided to start my own blog under the name ILOVEKUTCHI, a name my friends gave me because I was always laughing and had lots of tickles (kutchikutchi).
After leaving my job as an architect, I started to fill my days doing some of the projects I've left behind in all of my old graphic diaries. Although I've been doing things since 2007, in parallel with the blog and some craft fairs, only in 2009 I started to dedicate my full time in spreading my work!!
The shop was something I didn't plan but gladly embraced... I've always heard that "the best things come when you less expect..." but never thought that could be my case...One thing just led to another and in the 6th of June 2010 the ILOVEKUTCHI SHOP was officially open!!
The shop!
We work a 100% handmade or homemade concept with articles from our own brand and also from other artisans. The materials we work with are carefully selected and we focus on fun and bright colors filled with positive energy, and a 'naif' approach! I am and always will be a 'big child' as my mother tells me, and I think that is 'printed' on each item I make or select. Our daily challenge is to bring the handmade culture, with love and care, closer to everyone so that they can begin to re-appreciate the value and love for little details... seeing a child 'having a blast' with a cloth doll, or spending hours making up fantastic stories with finger puppets is priceless! And this is what fills me with the desire to continue to work and create new characters, new products, new shop windows... enjoying every moment, every day!
